Franklin Challenge 2022

By Tim Dyer

Thunderbox posterWe did it!  The weather gods sure shone down on us on June 26, 2022.   The following morning the Bay was blowin’ so hard, we would have had to shut ‘er down and drink coffee.  Hah – makes up for the first year when a sudden squall blew in and we booked it off the water to huddle in the rain and wind:)

Photographer Thom Morrissey has graciously captured the spirit of the day that deserves a few minutes of your time.  He tried to get just about everyone and we hope you can have a close look: www.thommorrisseyphotography.com

Thom has given permission for anyone to use any of the photos for free at low resolution.  For higher res, please get in touch with him.  And if you want a print – again, let him know directly.  Big hint, they make grand gifts for your favourite paddler and there are some stunning shots.  Christmas gifting done early:)

Huge thanks to all of you who worked hard to get sponsors and donated to the ‘Outer Island Fund’ of the Georgian Biosphere.   If you had a good paddle and haven’t donated yet – please consider:  https://bit.ly/3vX33PR   We’ll update everyone soon about the results of your fundraising efforts.  And finally – big wave of the paddle to all the volunteers and community supporters – truly was a group effort all round.
